Now, would you pick Carroll..
If he was fit, would you pick him now ahead of the players we're currently starting with?

Early days of course, but now we look like playing decent football I can't see where his style would fit.

It's not the lads fault I guess but he looks surplus to requirements now.

Knock him out to Newcastle simply to recover some money.

I'm looking forward to seeing an Andy Carroll who genuinely has to compete for his place.

Can't be a bad thing at all.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
The games not about only having 11 players is it? Better AC as backup than CFC. And if he come in and starts performing then that is great for competition in the squad.

Sell him off cheaply then were is the backup?

What happens if/when Valencia & Sakho get injured, lose form, are suspended or sold in January?

Might need him then eh?

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
We're currently winning with the players we're starting with, so no.

If that changes, then yes.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
No. We are doing well and that is in no small part down to the two men up front. Their size and movement has forced the team to play a different way. In addition, the shape has changed to accommodate them and that has helped immensely too. If Carrol is up front, players who would look for a pass are going to take the 'easy' option and knock it up to him.

I think he's a good player, but on current form there's no way he could get in in front of the two up front.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Depends what his form was like. But right now he'd definitely be coming off the bench and be expected to force his way back into the starting team.

Nice to have a deep squad for once.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Sahko will be off to African Cup of Nations (if it happens) in January , Valencia may have a dip later having played in the World Cup , injuries , suspensions etc etc
Good teams need lots of players and our bench strength at the moment is (for the first time in living memory) excellent.
Fair play to Sam, like many I had Nolan down for an instant first team place but he has stuck with the guys doing the business.
Competition & being able to win games off the bench is vital in the Premiership.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
The simple answer to a simple question is it depends on who we're playing, Carrolls form & what the d
score is in a particular match
Its fantastic having options up front
There are very few players of Carrolls type around

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Erh, would you select a striker than can score, or would you select one that can't?

Let me get back to you on that.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
No striker would have scored consistently for us the way we played last year, we struggled to create clear cut chances. Had Carroll been playing in this system i think he would have had 5+ this season.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
I think he'd be a decent impact player from the bench especially late in games when we're losing or drawing and you've got a team on the rack like the Man Utd game for instance shit loads of crosses went in in the last 10mins
But If he starts you just know we'll go back to lumping it long in fact had him and nolan not got injured fuck knows where we'd be now...

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
If our Forwards are playing well and scoring then no. But like when Cole came on Carroll can do the same and hopefully do better.
I've always thought Carroll should play with a quick man alongside him not some one from midfield in behind him.
Carroll and Sakho would be a good combination, infact Valencia and Carroll would work.
Pick any 2 from 3, both Sakho and Valencia are going to need a break when the harsher elements of our winter set in.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
I don't understand why, when things are going well, there has to be a downside? Carroll on his day is unplayable and hopefully, when he's fit, the competition for places will ensure that he's better than ever. I do wonder if he has the same heart and work ethic as Valencia and Sakho though. Carroll as our third choice striker would be a mark of how much we've improved.

Our next big signing should be a top drawer goalkeeper. Adrian is good but there's a big difference between a good goalkeeper and an excellent one. I'm not sure who but there must be a few highly sought after and highly rated keepers out there who would love to sign for us.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
I suppose when he eventually shows up in the team, there's a chance he will get injured again. I'm not giving it much thought at the moment tbh.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Why change the team when they have all been performing well? We've seen that even Nolan is not worthy of a start since returning from injury.

The only player that has gone straight back in is Noble and I expect Kouyate to also walk straight back into team too. It's a long season so there will be changes here and there. I think it's important that AC focuses on getting 100% fit before being brought back, this can only be a positve for the team.

Re: Now, would you pick Carroll..
Need to find a way of getting the three of them on the pitch. It's possible Song or Noble would have to be sacrificed on current form. Although Downings form surely can't last forever.

Adrian
Jenk Tomk Reid Cress
Noble or Song
Kayoute Downing
Valencia
Sakho Carroll
